An apparently small, domed building sits to one side of The Castle hiding three underground levels of art. The National Museum of African Art, which opened in 1987 is the only African art museum of its kind. The museum serves as a research center and an exhibition space of a multitude of art objects including wood, metal, ceramics, cloth and ivory. The facility also houses a research center, a reference center, photographic archive, and educational facilities.
